If you have a foreign address and no U.S. physical address on file with the FAA, you may be required to designate a U.S. Agent for Service if you hold or apply for certain FAA certificates, ratings, or authorizations.
A U.S. Agent for Service is required for individuals with a foreign address and no U.S. physical address on file with the FAA who hold or apply for a certificate, rating, or authorization under 14 CFR Parts 47, 61, 63, 65, 67, or 107.
You can designate a U.S. Agent for Service through the FAA's online U.S. Agent for Service System (USAS). Visit the official FAA USAS portal to complete your designation.
Yes. You can change your U.S. Agent for Service at any time through the FAA’s U.S. Agent for Service System (USAS), and you must update the FAA within 30 days of the change.
A U.S. Agent for Service receives certain official FAA documents on your behalf, including enforcement notices, reexamination letters, letters of investigation, and requests for information. The agent provides the FAA with a U.S.-based point of contact for serving these documents when you are located outside the United States.
If you are required to have a U.S. Agent for Service and do not designate one, you may not be permitted to exercise the privileges of your affected FAA certificate, rating, or authorization. Designating an agent ensures the FAA has a U.S.-based contact to receive official documents on your behalf.
The cost of a U.S. Agent for Service varies by provider. MyUSAgent provides U.S. Agent for Service services for $38 per year, with no setup fees or hidden costs for the standard service.
Yes. You can switch your U.S. Agent for Service to MyUSAgent at any time through the FAA's U.S. Agent for Service System (USAS). With our Pro Rate Guarantee, we calculate the unused portion of what you have already paid your current U.S. Agent and deduct that amount from our $38 annual fee. If the prorated amount is $38 or more, you receive your first year with MyUSAgent completely free.
No. A U.S. Agent for Service does not need to be an aviation company or an aviation professional. The FAA allows you to designate a qualified individual or service company with a U.S. address to receive FAA documents on your behalf.
You pay for your U.S. Agent for Service when you register with MyUSAgent, with the $38 annual fee charged once per year. We accept credit cards and debit cards.
There are two potential extra costs:
1. If you choose to have us send you your mail, we will ship your mail by premium courier (FedEx, UPS, DHL). Shipping & Handling fees will apply.
2. If you choose to have us store your mail on the long term, we will charge you a monthly fee, based on the amount of documents stored with us (see Pricing).
